With the support of SEM I have been able to purchase my own Yamaha AvantGrand N1X. This will make a meaningful difference in my everyday life as a pianist. Real estate in the Netherlands is precious and not always conducive to having a few square meters to spare for a big noisy grand piano. The compact and silent-functioning Yamaha Avantgrand offered me the perfect solution for being able to prepare for my concerts on an instrument at home that shared so many of the playing qualities of one found in the concert hall. Pianists know how tricky it can be to secure enough practice time day to day. Sometimes your progress can be curbed by the simple fact of not having enough access to a practice facility.

This instrument removes this obstacle for me completely and leaves only my day-to-day motivation and willpower to contend with. I am enormously grateful to SEM and its donors for making this purchase possible. I hope to pass many career milestones and learn many hundreds of thousands of notes on this doomed instrument.
