Piccolo
Following the completion of my studies at Utrecht Conservatory, I devoted myself to finding a piccolo that met my stringent criteria, an instrument that could support and resonate with me throughout my entire career. My quest spanned over a year and involved trying piccolos from a variety of makers and countries. Even in that extended journey, the moment I played my Philipp Hammig piccolo, I instantly recognized the sound I had been longing for.
Balancing between flute and piccolo performance, my repertoire covers orchestral, chamber, and solo music. The piccolo truly defines my artistry. It enables me to enhance the brilliance and color of an orchestra, add sparkle to a quintet, or accompany a solo recital with delicate intimacy. To perform all of these functions, I needed a single instrument with a steady intonation and a warm, clear tone. My Hammig piccolo offers me precisely that, thus unveiling unheard nuances in my performance to explore.
I was able to make this significant move because of the generous sponsorship from Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument and the related donors. With this piccolo accompanying me, my thoughts turn towards developing ever further as an artist, as well as towards sharing the splendour of the instrument with audiences all around the world.
