Dwarsfluit
With a generous donation from Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument, I can pursue my long-held dream of owning a Sankyo professional flute. From a young age, I’ve been mesmerised by the saxophone and woodwind instruments. However, my basic student flute has limited my progress and prevented me from achieving the sound quality I desire. Upgrading to a professional instrument is crucial for me as a musician and will be an invaluable asset throughout my journey. As an active member of the Dutch jazz scene, I regularly perform at venues like The Bimhuis, both as a side-woman and as a bandleader. My debut album, Birdsong (ZenneZ Records), received critical acclaim and featured in publications like De Volkskrant and Jazzism, as well as in the UK. Maintaining this positive momentum and elevating my music is important, but I’m still early in my career and need significant financial investments, like funding my album, which makes it difficult to afford a new professional instrument. Composition is central to my ensembles, allowing me to showcase diverse soundscapes, timbres, and instrumentations and I aspire to write for myself to play the flute within these line-ups. During my studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA), I benefited from valuable doubling lessons from mentors like Marc Scholten, which enhanced my appreciation for the flute’s expressive capabilities and reinforced my commitment to mastering both saxophone and flute.
I’m incredibly grateful for this fund’s generous support, which significantly enriches my musical journey and helps me achieve my artistic aspirations.
